Private Instruction

Mason offers private lessons in oboe and English horn at your location, whether at home, school, or another convenient space in the Greater Boston Area. Drawing on a performance background that spans orchestral, chamber, and pit orchestra settings, Mason brings real-world musicianship into every lesson.

Instruction is tailored to each student’s goals and experience level, from beginners discovering the double reeds for the first time to advancing students preparing for auditions, all-state competitions, or collegiate study.

Lessons cover tone production, technical fundamentals, musicality, reed making (along with adjustments and care), and repertoire suited to each student’s development.

School Music Program Coaching

Mason also works with school music programs, offering sectional coaching and ensemble clinics for double reed students. Whether your program has a single oboist navigating their first season or a developing woodwind section preparing for festival adjudication, Mason is available to work directly with students and support music educators in building a strong double reed program.
